Deng Zhi Quan is a Chinese painting artist, poet, vice president of Golden Gate Artist Association, member of Board of Directors for the Chinese Literature & Art Association in America, and San Francisco resident for the past 23 years.
Deng was born in Dongguan City, China in 1948. From 1976, he received systematic education on Chinese painting. In the 1980s, he started displaying his artwork in exhibits. He had been an art lecturer for 15 years, specializing in freehand flower and bird paintings.
Moving to the United States in the early 1990s opened up many learning opportunities for Deng. He was able to observe Western masterpieces in world famous museums, discuss painting techniques with Chinese artists living in the United States, and experience the natural beauty of flowers and birds in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over time, Deng’s paintings reflected his appreciation of his surrounding and the harmony between human and the environment.
In October 2016, Deng had a popular exhibit in the Shilong Museum in China, showing his works of flowers and birds from the West Coast of the United States.
In March 2017, Deng had a successful exhibit in the San Francisco main library, displaying Chinese painting to a diverse audience.
In addition to painting, Deng is also an outstanding Chinese poet. For over 20 years, as a Chinese immigrant, Deng used poetry to express his feelings; his works are well-received in the overseas traditional poetry writing communities.
Deng’s artwork combines the picturesque representation of traditional Chinese painting with the vision and emotion of a western immigrant, and features a different side of the traditional literati painting.
Officials from the Beijing Caofeidian International Vocational Educational City as well as the China Venture Capital Federation came to visit.
